Nintendo has revealed the enigma surrounding this recent short film “Close to You” that perplexed audiences: And, yes, as many have theorized, it all ties back to Pikmin.
The Revised Clip Reveals the Pikmin Creatures
Recently, Nintendo shared an revised edition of the “Close to You” short, but instead of unseen entities manipulating the baby items in a child’s nursery, a crowd of Pikmin are visibly shown to be the cause of the slight commotion. Pikmin in red, yellow, and blue are shown running around the nursery, shifting objects around, and fighting for the baby’s pacifier.
Fans Called It
Essentially: followers of the series were correct. Earlier this week, when Nintendo debuted the “Close to You” video through its Nintendo Today app, and subsequently on standard social platforms, series enthusiasts correctly identified familiar tunes from the game in the short. A few believed they even spotted a couple of Pikmin obscured in the rear.
The Invisible Theory
“Close to You” adds weight to the notion that the creatures are unseen to the naked eye. Is it possible that babies detect them? The parent in the short does not seem to notice or care that her infant’s space is overrun by these beings.
The Unanswered Question
A key question that is left unanswered: Why did Nintendo go to the effort of producing two versions? This remains unclear. Maybe there’s a upcoming Pikmin title on the way — or a special Switch 2 version of the latest title with extra baby-related antics. This new clip of “Close to You” doesn’t end with any kind of announcement of a complete initiative.
Nintendo Being Nintendo
As previously mentioned, the video(s) may just be another example of Nintendo’s distinctive behavior. The video may just be another entry in the numerous animated Pikmin features and comic strips that Nintendo has released for the brand — which just happens to celebrate its 25th anniversary soon.
No statement has been received from Nintendo on the details and reasons of the short, but in case Nintendo break their silence on this topic, further updates will be provided.
